Equine Physio

I believe every horse deserves to live a happy, active and pain free life. Your horses health and performance is my top priority and as a certified Veterinary Physiotherapist I can provide personalised treatment plans for each individual animal.

What we offer:

My detailed assessments will begin with a history of your horses health and of your horses physical condition, including gait analysis, muscle evaluation and joint mobility.

For horses recovering from injury or surgery I can provide manual therapy hands on techniques such as massage, joint mobilisations and stretching to alleviate pain, reduce muscle tension and improve mobility. Having effective pain management is crucial for your horses health and performance therefore I can provide additional electrotherapies such as TENS, NMES and PMFT to help alleviate pain and facilitate healing.

Senior horses may suffer from age related issues such as arthritis and soft tissue injuries or weaknesses which could affect your horse's quality of life. I am able to provide gentle exercise regimes to keep your horse active and healthy, maintain muscle to protect ageing joints and offer owner advice for lifestyle or environmental adjustments.

For competitive horses and those that are actively in training I am able to provide training programmes to work on muscle strength and conditioning, as well as working on flexibility and mobility. Using hands on techniques I am able to provide massage and mobilisations to help aid muscle soreness and reduce pain related to increased exercise workloads.

I also provide regular maintenance physiotherapy as it can help maintain your horse's health, keep your horse fit, healthy and aims to prevent future injuries from occurring.

PMFT

Using electromagnetic fields to produce a current. This electrotherapy can be used to aid tissue repair, reduce inflammation and provide pain relief.

MASSAGE

This manual therapy uses different pressures and techniques to help improve muscle flexibility, alleviate pain, improve circulation and relieve tension.

EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

Personalised exercises for your animal to do at home between physiotherapy sessions. This may include stretching, muscle strengthening/maintaining and techniques to improve joint range of motion.

MOBILISATION

This manual therapy aims to restore normal joint movement and alleviate adhesions or restrictions using controlled passive movements to a joint.
